Accommodation Details

Cefn Cam is set down from the Dolgellau-Barmouth road, right on the edge of the estuary. The small garden either side of the house contains a woodshed, stone terrace and garden table and chairs for guests to use. In high tides, the water can come right up to the bottom of the stone wall that separates the terrace from the beach: don't worry, as yet, the cottage has never been flooded! The wall that separates the garden from the beach is quite low, and there is a drop of almost a metre on the other side. The beach is a mixture of grass and sand, and can be walked along at low tide. A gate into the garden can be shut, and there is another larger gate at the top of the drive to keep dogs in.

Pets: We do allow well-bahved dogs that don't go upstairs or on the furniture please.

No-smoking: please do not smoke anywhere inside the house.

Cottage layout

Ground floor: In the cottage, you walk in via a long hallway with plenty of room for boots and coats. On the left is the sitting room, with a large open fire, rugs on the floor, two sofas and a window seat, plus curtained stairs up to the first floor. Straight on from the hall is the kitchen, with quarry-tiled floor and wood-burning stove. There are two fridges, electric oven and plenty of work surface area for those wanting to self-cater. A Victorian dresser sits at one end of the kitchen, stocked with enough plates and crockery for a small army, and there is an extendable round table that can seat up to 10. A glass door leads into the oak-framed garden room, where floor to ceiling glass windows give fantastic views up the estuary. At the back of the kitchen, another door leads into the utility room, where there is a washing machine and gas boiler for the central heating. Also here is a shower room and downstairs toilet.

First floor: Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, one with a super-king bed and the other with two single beds that can be pushed together as required, plus chests of drawers and hanging cupboards. Both bedrooms have wonderful views of the estuary. Also on this floor is the family bathroom with a toilet, basin and large bath.

Second floor: the top attic section has been converted into two bedrooms with quaint sloping ceilings. There are two single beds in each, plus extra mattresses if needed.
